The GPSMAP®
478 comes preloaded with U.S. marine detailed maps for the entire US coast -
including Alaska and Hawaii - and City Navigator maps. These two detailed sets of maps are combined together in the
478 to
form one large, comprehensive set of data that covers both land and sea. |

Mapping Software - City Navigator North America NT (DVD)
The "basemap" included with the 276c device includes primarily
interstate information. To be an effective tool for most street riding,
street map software must be added. (The 478 model already has
this software preloaded.)
 | Coverage includes detailed maps for the United States and Canada,
including Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico. Mexico coverage is not
included. |
| The maps contain nearly 6 million points of interest (food/drink, lodging,
attractions, entertainment, shopping, emergency services, post offices, camp
grounds, movie theatres, gas stations, and more) |
| City Navigator North America includes detailed maps containing highways,
interstates, business and residential roads with attributes such as turn
restrictions, roundabout guidance, speed categories, and other navigational
features. |
| It will automatically create point-to-point routes in MapSource and
compatible GPS units. |
